Our first assignment will deal with the Civil War. The class will be broken into two groups, with one half representing the north and the other representing the south. An expert on this war will visit the class to give a background on the war. Please prepare one question in advance to ask our speaker about the war. We will spend two days in the School Media Center collecting research on the era. The information collected must not all come from books. Other resources such as newspapers, videos, and the Internet must be incorporated. Once all of your information is collected we will discuss as a group what you have learned from this war and what steps could have been taken to avoid it. As a class we will put together a presentation about the war and lessons learned about what can be done to avoid such issues in the future.

Kim (Student):Ms. Sherwin, I have some good resources at my house on the civil war. Would it be ok if I brought those in to share with the class?
ReplyDeleteMs. Sherwin: Kim yes that sounds like a great idea. The more resources we have the better our presentation will be!
ReplyDeleteKim (Student): Will we be giving our presentation to the school once we finish with the project or will it just be used in class?
ReplyDeleteMs Sherwin: I plan on making our presentation available to the school by posting it on the School's web site
